Assistant professor adds to her University duties

Dr. Melony Shemberger will be serving as the interim Faculty Development Center director, which is now a part of the University Libraries.

Dr. Shemberger, assistant professor of journalism and mass communication, began her fourth year of teaching at Murray State in August.

Shemberger has published in the peer-reviewed publications of Journalism and Mass Communication Educator, Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and the Teaching Journalism and Mass Communication Journal.

She has four book chapters forthcoming and has professional articles in several guidebooks published by the PR News Press, as well as the Journal of the Jackson Purchase Historical Society.

She has presented at several academic and professional conferences. Her primary research interests include journalism history, sunshine laws and journalism pedagogy.

On campus, Shemberger is chair of the Committee on Institutional Studies and Research. She will serve as vice president of the Faculty Senate for 2016-17. She also is a member of the President’s Commission on Sustainability.
