MSU students, alum win state broadcast honors

Three JMC students won top honors at the Kentucky Broadcasters Association’s Impact Broadcast Awards in April. 

The contest has two divisions – professional and college – in television and radio. Entries came in news, features or sports categories. The college division recognizes excellence in collegiate broadcast journalism, including television, radio and digital.

Winners were: 

  • Jamie Skarupsky, second place, sports coverage
  • Dionte Berry and The Murray State News, first place, best website
  • Dustin Wilcox, third place, best feature story (radio)
  • Dustin Wilcox, first place, best news story (radio)
  • Dustin Wilcox, best college digital journalist (radio)

In addition, alumnus Blake Sandlin, a weekend sports anchor and sports reporter at WPSD-TV in Paducah, won first with Jeff Bidwell and Adam Wells for best sports prep show.
