The first time was a charm for the MSU Ads Club.
The club entered the 2022 All Campus Sing, and won two awards — first place in the Independent Division and the ACS Creativity Award.
This was the first time that the Ads Club had entered All Campus Sing, said Ads Club adviser Gill Welsch.
“Ads Club members have been a part of All Campus Sing for years because many of them were participating with their fraternities and sororities,” Welsch said. “This is the first year that the club itself had entered.”
Welsch said the students made advertising a focus of their performance. Their entry, titled “In the Arms of the Ads Club,” featured songs from a number of well-known television commercials. The songs featured have been included in ads for Applebee’s, Swiffer, the ASPCA, Samsung, Kia Soul, and Hershey’s Kisses.
Ads Club performers were Kate Manley, Taylor Moore, Aidan Schweitzer, Bek Schmidt, and Jordan Sinkler.
“The students had a really good time, and the performance was very well received,” Welsch said. “I’ve been hearing lots of good comments from people all across campus. I knew that the students would do well. I was excited to see them win first place. I was blown away when they won the Creativity Award. The students want to enter ACS next year. I’m looking forward to seeing what show they create.”
