The Murray State News won 14 awards in the annual Kentucky Press Association newspaper competition in the University division.
Individual winners were:
Best ongoing/extended coverage: first place – Rebecca Walter, Amanda Grau and Mary Bradley;
Best front page: first place – Mary Bradley;
Best graphic: first place – Taylor McStoots;
Best graphic: second place – Taylor McStoots;
Best Editorial: second place – Carly Besser;
Best Editorial: third place – Allison Borthwick;
Best sports story: second place – Kelsey Randolph;
Best business/agribusiness story: second place – Lauren Epperson;
Creative use of multimedia: second place – Josiah Brand, Ben Manhanke, Tori May and Cameron Witte;
Best lifestyle page: second place – Breanna Sill;
Best sports feature story: third place – Mallory Tucker;
Best general news picture: third place – Kalli Bubb;
Best sports page/special section: third place – Kelsey Randolph;
Best editorial page: third place – Allison Borthwick.
The awards were presented at a banquet in Madisonville on Feb. 25. Joe Hedges was the adviser for the 2014-15 school year. Ryan Alessi and Joe Hedges were co-advisers for the 2015-16 academic year.
