\n\tMedia professionals visited campus Oct. 17 as part of the department\u2019s annual Meet the Pros event. <\/p>\n
\tStudents attended panel discussions which featured professionals working in positions related to their majors.<\/p>\n
\tThe professionals participating in the advertising session included: Jamie Futrell, Bristol Broadcasting, Paducah, Ky.; Robert Norsworthy, Dept. of Journalism and Mass Communications\u2019 executive in residence; Jamie Barnwell Phillips, Rust Media, Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and Karie Thornton, Bristol Broadcasting, Paducah, Ky. <\/p>\n
\tAustin Gordon, Hutson, Inc., met with graphic communications media students.<\/p>\n
\tJournalism majors heard from John Wright, Murray Ledger & Times<\/em>, Meghann Richardson, Owensboro Times<\/em>, and Ed Rode.<\/p>\n \tPublic relations students were able to hear insights from Tory Daughrity, Henry County Medical Center, Paris, Tenn.; Dana Howard, CFSB; Tab Brockman, Hopkinsville, Ky., Parks & Recreation; and Shawn Touney, Murray State.<\/p>\n \tTV Production majors heard the thoughts of Jason Barnett, Jason Barnett Graphics, Louisville, Ky.; Jeremy McKeel, MSU Digital Media Services; and Dave Winder, MSU Athletics.<\/p>\n \tStudents and professionals participated in speed interviews following the panel discussions. Professionals were seated at tables. Students were allotted a fixed amount of time to spend at a professional\u2019s table. The students moved to another professional\u2019s table when prompted by the time keeper.<\/p>\n \tGill Welsch serves as the coordinator for the Meet the Pros event.
