Dr. Kevin Qualls, JMC chairman<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\nWe are also feeling the absence of two long standing JMC faculty members who recently retired, Dr. Allen White and Mr. Robert Valentine. Their contributions to the department and university are enormous. Their legacy is still among us. And Bob Valentine is still literally among us, as evidenced by his byline in this JMC Journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The word \u201clegacy\u201d will show up several times on these pages. The JMC department is both anticipating the future and celebrating our legacy. That future includes media technologies, information flows and interactions that were barely imagined when Doc began his MSU career in the early 1970s. Our challenge is to continually adapt to these evolving media environments while maintaining the values that have been the platform of our success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this edition of The JMC Journal, I hope you will see how we go about accomplishing that. And I hope you will enjoy our celebration of Doc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
