How would you like to take a class about Star Trek? What about movies in journalism? Or social justice?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those are the themes of three one-hour elective classes that will be taught in the residential colleges during the second-half semester. These courses are listed as IDC 199  in MyGate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Debbie Owens will teach “Let’s Talk about Social Justice and ‘Small Great Things’ that Matter” with Dr. Dana Todd of the nursing department. The course will address the role of diversity, equity and inclusion while examining the impact of belief system differences and biases on individuals and societies. The course will meet from 4-5:50 p.m. March 9-May 5 in Hart College. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Melony Shemberger will teach \u201cThe Hollywood Treatment: Journalism in American Film and Television.\u201d The class will meet in Franklin College, and students will enjoy movie snacks each week.\u00a0The course will meet from 3:30-5:20 p.m. March 9-May 5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Elizabeth Thomas will teach\u00a0“Star Trek & Popular Culture” in Regents Residential College. The course will be offered from March 9-May 5 and will meet from 3:30-5:20 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
