Dr. Carol Terracina-Hartman, assistant professor of journalism, also serves as the vice head for the Magazine Media division of The Association for Education in Journalism & Mass
Communication. This past August, she planned programming for the annual conference in Washington, D.C. This involved 12 sessions, partnering with Broadcast and Mobile Media Journalism, Critical Cultural Studies, Communicating Science, Health & Environmental Risk, the Internship & Career Interest Group, and the Council of Affiliates College Media Division.
The group hosted a Teaching Marathon with Visual Communication and two panels highlighting top research papers. Additionally, Terracina-Hartman presented her paper, “Social Justice in Campus Media: How student journalists report, reflect, and respond to the killing of Breonna Taylor #SayHerName” in a joint Scholastic/College Media Division panel.
Terracina-Hartman was also accepted into the Kopenhaver Fellowship program: “Women’s Faculty Moving Forward: Taking the Lead.” Run by the Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Center for the Advancement of Women in
Communication, 2023 was the 11th consecutive year of the workshop. The fellowship offers Terracina-Hartman a vast network of resources and an opportunity to continue to be engaged with other women in media and communications scholarship.
